The three-man Ceredigion fencing team won the YFC All Wales fencing competition at the Royal Welsh Show, sponsored by EstateWIRE from ArcelorMittal, beating teams from Radnor Maesyfed and Gwent into 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The Ceredigion team of Gareth Harries, Richard Downes and Dilwyn Harries scored 269 points out of 300 in a close-run final in Builth Wells, with Radnor Maesyfed finishing with 260 points and Gwent with 254. ArcelorMittal provided the EstateWIRE fencing materials and prizes and worked with CFfI Cymru/Wales YFC to ensure a hotly-contested competition.

ArcelorMittal Senior Sales Officer Shaun Gervis says: “The Royal Welsh is increasingly important to ArcelorMittal as we meet many of our customers there, Estate®WIRE retailers from across Wales and England. It gives us a chance to emphasise the fact we are part of the agricultural and land management community. “It also enables our retail customers to meet the end users of our Estate®WIRE products, who are at the top of their game.

The Ceredigion team worked incredibly well together and were worthy winners, but all three teams in the final were impressive. I admire the judges for being able to separate them on specific skills such as getting the uprights vertical, fixing and tensioning the wires and netting and the overall neatness of the job. That is important to ArcelorMittal as it demonstrates to a very knowledgeable crowd that our products are there to last.
