A global pandemic hasn’t stopped ArcelorMittal from moving forward with their growth plans as they add new fencing machinery into their mix.

New generation machinery capable of producing two different types of fencing knots is the latest to be added to the ArcelorMittal portfolio. Able to produce both “fixed” and “x” type knots, ArcelorMittal’s machinery is one of patented design and is the only machine design in the world capable of producing both kinds of knots with minimal product change over down time.

“The addition of this new machinery has been a long time coming” commented CEO Tony Hinchliffe. “We have seen market demand for these products increase steadily over recent years and knew we needed to invest in this technology but there were a number of things we needed to carry out first”.

Approximately 2 years ago, ArcelorMittal secured a second site to expand their warehousing and last year, they constructed a new structure to further expand their warehousing.

“In order to create the floor space to house our new machinery, some re-configuration of our factory and site was required which was not an overnight task” Tony explained. “Getting us to the point of being able to install has been a step by step process, all of which has been made so much harder by the presence of COVID but we finally made it!”.

The Estate®WIRE brand of fencing is all manufactured using ArcelorMittal’s 2Life® wire; wire that is galvanised with zinc and aluminium that offers twice the corrosion protection of traditional Class A zinc only galvanised products.

“The Estate®WIRE FX products manufactured on our new machinery will come with the same 20 year product guarantee that our other Estate®WIRE products enjoy” Head of Sales, Shaun Gervis told us. “Our new fixed knot and x knot type products are the only UK manufactured products in the market place that offer this exceptional corrosion resistance guarantee”.

“Estate®WIRE FX is the product that is going to offer the market the most longevity” Shaun explained, “x knot manufacturing techniques create a stronger, more robust product that can stand the test of time. Couple this with the exceptional corrosion resistance of our 2Life® wire and you have an extremely high performing, long lasting fence”.

The specification of the new machinery is impressive, making use of all the latest technologies including VR googles for real time assistance with the manufacturer!

“We are extremely happy with our choice of machinery” Tony commented, “we have the capability to produce some pretty impressive size rolls in terms of height and weight and the flexibility of the machine in terms of set up time and its capabilities are going to bring us huge gains”.

When asked if this was ArcelorMittal’s growth project now complete, the CEO responded “we are two years into our five year growth plan and have a number of projects freshly started now our fencing machinery work is complete so watch this space! There are some exciting plans for us in the pipeline”.
